About the Octagon Club
Octagon is an active volunteer organization that is sponsored by the Optimist International group. It retains similar core values as the Optimist International group and participates in both similar and unique events. Monta Vista Octagon has been contributing exceptional service and dedication to the local community for the past 11 years. Our goal is to help the community through your participation while helping our members receive opportunity for both activities and friendships. We offer a variety of activities annually including, but not limited to, Breakfast with Friends, JDRF, and Stanford Concessions. Octagon also hosts unique events during the year such as the Pie Toss and the Cure Cancer Café which fundraise respectively for the Make a Wish Foundation and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We encourage interaction between our members through various member bonding activities scattered throughout the year. We hope that Monta Vista Octagon can make an enormous amount of impact on your lives and that you will join us in creating a better community.

About Stanford Concessions
"Stanford Concessions" are one of Monta Vista Octagon's principle events, with members attending over 500 Concessions to date. We frequently collaborate with Stanford University for club funds and volunteer opportunities for our members, as they are one of our top sponsors. Student volunteers from MV Octagon attend Stanford sports games and tournaments for free, cashiering and cooking at food stands. Through Stanford Concessions, MV Octagon is able to raise money for charitable events and donations, giving back to the community in the true spirit of Optimist.
About Pietoss
As the first major Octagon event of the year, Pie Toss creates an entertaining experience and exciting atmosphere as students have the permission to throw pies at teachers standing behind the boards. The money acquired from the pies, whip cream on tins, is donated to the Make a Wish foundation!
